Debt Free or Bust

Jury Duty & Wacky Schedule

I’ve been out of touch for the past week. I was frantically getting ready for the meeting with my bankruptcy attorney (will cover in a separate post) and I started and finished jury duty today. I also began work on the huge packet of information my attorney gave me.

This was the strangest jury service I’ve ever experienced. We all spent an hour and a half in orientation and another hour waiting to be called. They divide everyone into 4 panels of about 50 people each. I was assigned to panel 2 this time. About an hour after they dismissed us from orientation and sent us to the River Center Branch of the Library to wait they called out panels 2, 3, and 4. They told panel 4 they had to be back Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. and called random names from panels 2 and 3 to fill in panel 4. Then they dismissed those of us left in panels 2 and 3 from serving the rest of the week.

I’m amazed. I’ve never been dismissed before Wednesday of the week I’ve served. I don’t know what they did with panel 1. I left as soon as they told us we could.

I’ll write a post later today on the meeting with my attorney.
