Total extra earnings that paid at the end of June are:
Cashcrate: $17.60
Associated Content: $4.01
Total to apply to debt in July: $21.61
Total extra earnings for the month of June (paid near end of July) are as follows:
Cashcrate: $38.30 (and 94 points)
Fairy Tale Treasure: $66.11 (and 8 magic lamps)
Associated Content: $4.01 (at least, this can be transfered as soon as it’s paid)
BR Parents Magazine: $50
Total extra earnings to apply to debt in August: $158.42
This is a lot better than May, but I want it to be at least 2-5 times this much by August.
How I plan to improve my extra earnings income:
- Do a terrific job on my consultations through GLG so I’m asked to consult more.
- Hold my garage sale (or a two or three)!
- Try to get closer to 15 hours a week tutoring starting in August. August will be slow, but things will really roll in September through December. January is slow, but things improve in February and go pretty smoothly through May. There are dips for Thanksgiving, Christmas break, Mardi Gras, and Spring break. My best paid months are always December and May because of mid-term and final exams.
- Get my computer fixed so I can participate in a lot more of cashcrate and fairytale treasure. I didn’t make much on either site in June because I can’t open a large number of the links to surveys and offers. My computer guy says it’s likely a problem within my PC since my son’s works fine using all the same everything.
- Write more articles for pay for Associated Content.
- Complete myspace website for more networking and marketing, and friends. A lot of my friends are on myspace daily and I’m missing out by not visiting their pages regularly and updating and blogging on mine.

Wow! When you start digging for opportunity and listening to every hint of it, opportunity seems to knock on the door! Or more like send an email and then follow up with a phone call.
I was just hired as a freelance consultant with Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG). I have my first consult this week. My duties will be to talk with their clients about subjects in which I’m proficient and can answer the questions and give the background information the client seeks. I’ll be consulting in chemistry mostly, but also in financial services and investments, since I’m a registered investment adviser, and likely in projects that involve knowledge in both areas.
The cool thing is I’ll make $180/hr. The not-so-cool thing is I’ll only be working about 2 hours a month on average. But, that’s more money in the shortest period of time that I can come up with through any of my means of earning. There are opportunities to do slightly more consulting than a couple of hours a month. I have to go onto the website and dig, and then get accepted. You’re only guaranteed the consults they invite you to do. But, that’s a little time for heck of a lot of money. I don’t necessarily get paid for any prep time, but at that hourly rate, I can do research on my own time.
The other cool thing is now I can add consulting to my resume, which may get me more consultations.

Original debt balance (before continued interest): $157,171
Gross payments made: $1,746.00
Starting debt balance this month: $158,323.45
Current debt balance: $158,094.75
Net debt (principal) paid off: $228.70 as of June 24, 2007
Let’s do the math: 1746 - 228.70 = $1517.30 has been paid toward interest and fees. That really bums me out.
That’s not exactly the whole picture, though. It’s really worse. I will pay off a $1200 debt by the end of the week ($200 remaining) and I have paid 2/3 of the second debt and only owe $210 more to pay it off. So I will have paid $1620 in principal and my snowball will rollover twice by the end of July. So the gross amount paid is a lot more principal than the simple calculation shows. It’s just that some creditors are still charging so much interest and fees that I’m not making any headway (and falling farther behind) with those farther down the slope. I guess that’s the price I’m gonna have to pay — stupid tax.
