What is Debt Free or Bust?
Debt Free or Bust is a blog (weblog) about one person’s journey from deep debt and desperation to debt freedom aimed at others struggling month-to-month to make ends meet and get out of debt for good.
You will find:
- Updates as my journey progresses, from good news to bad news.
- Debt pay-off reports detailing where I am compared to where I was in April 2007, when I started working a serious plan to increase my income and get out of debt
- Earnings updates discussing what I’m doing to make a living and extra money to pay off the debt
- Discussions about how much I will need to earn to pay my debt off in 5 years or less
- Ideas for cutting costs so more money is available to pay down the debt

The journey is in progress, and the debt is still very deep. Bankruptcy may still happen. I won’t know for quite awhile.
Who is Sherri Joubert?
Debt Free or Bust content is produced by me, Sherri Joubert, a single mom from Louisiana in the United States who has done stupid with zeros on the end. I am a chemist by education and I left the chemical industry at the end of 2003 as the result of a job elimination (downsizing).
Since then, I embarked on a path of entrepreneurship, and own and operate an investment advisory business part-time from my home office. Missing science and needing extra income, I started tutoring high school math and science part-time in November 2006. I love working with students and seeing the light bulbs go on when they finally understand a difficult concept.
In April 2007, I decided to learn how to earn at least a part-time income online. The online income path has led to blogging part-time to eventually earn a full-time income from my blog sites.
In the meantime, I am in a career transition from operating my investment advisory business full-time to part-time, and seeking a new full-time career.
