IFW Advertiser Scam Update
I wanted to post an update about the debit card scam with an advertiser that I experienced. I was able to get all of the money the advertiser took from my accounts back. EDP cards, (edpreporting.com) took $159.95 out of two of my checking accounts. I disputed those debits and my banks refused the demands on the accounts. The electronic checks were returned unpaid.
However, the debit from my Capital One checking account overdrew the account. Capital One didn’t pay the check because it looked like a fraudulent check, but since it overdrew my account, they charged me $32 for the overdraft. Subsequent to the fraudulent debit, two more legitimate debits came through and Capital One charged me $32 each for those two debits, so now I have NSF charges of $96, right?
Capital One refunded the $32 for the fraudulent debit, but refuses to refund the other $64 because they “can’t be sure I didn’t purposefully continue to overdraft the account”. I’m so mad at them I could spit teeth. The bi-otch assistant manager who refused to refund the extra NSF charges is lucky I’m not a violent person, or she would have been spitting teeth before I left the bank.
I closed all my accounts at Capital One, and I’m going to a different branch Monday to see if I can get someone to be reasonable and refund the $64. Had the fraudulent debit never occurred, my account would not have been overdrawn.
I’m also writing a letter of complaint to someone in charge in this region if I can ever find out who that is. The Capital One webpage doesn’t have a “contact us” link anywhere on it that has an email link or physical address. Nor does it have a complaint resolution link.
I also haven’t been able to complete figuring out how much I’ve made because of all the debits and credits to my accounts. As soon as I come up with a figure, I’ll post it.
