There are a lot things I didn't know until I started going through the process, and each state has different rules, so you need a good, but reasonably-priced local bankruptcy attorney to advise you.I hate it that there isn't a realistic way for me to pay everything back, but with all the tacked-on interest and fees from my debts being sold, I didn't actually borrow more than about half of what I currently owe. I am only keeping the debts that make sense for me to keep, mostly the ones to do with my primary residence. We have to live somewhere and the house payments are low enough to make it advantageous to keep the house payment. It's cheaper than rent. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you'll come again soon,

Thanks for sharing details about your particular case. I think it will help a lot to those out there who are considering this as an option but don't know exactly what to expect.

I don’t know why I always had the idea that bankruptcy meant ALL your debts were wiped out. It's been so long since I've rented. A lot of things have changed about qualifying to rent now vs. 15 years ago.Between bad credit and animals, I wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell of renting anything.

Arthur,

I hadn’t even considered the credit check a landlord might do.
